Jared I know that I’ve been truly blessed To have held his hand in mine; A sense of gratitude is ours To have shared his place and time.
It isn’t ours to question why. His stay will be so brief; Or why a master plan would hold Such heartfelt loss and grief.
It’s ours to offer tenderness; To bring him joy each day; To savor precious moments now, And love him while we may.
Through him we’ve learned compassion’s worth; He’s taught us all to share His gift of love so infinite; He’s prompted all to care.
This special child’s exemplary life, His body racked with pain, Has taught how precious is each day; No life is lived in vain.
And when his life is ended; When pain and suffering cease, We’ll mourn; yet find a solace Knowing he has found his peace.
His memories will linger on Long after he is gone; We’ll feel his warmth in sunshine as We rise to greet each dawn.
And as he smiles upon us all From somewhere up above; He’ll know our lives are richer through His legacy of love.
